Valentine Mini Sessions in Charleston, South Carolina

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day last week.  Valentine’s was always my favorite holiday in elementary school.  I loved decorating a shoe box with doilies, and other valentine decor and making all of my classmates little individual valentines.  I had so many cute sweeties visit me in the studio for Valentine mini sessions on the ninth of this month.  I had little ones from about 3 months old to 4 years old.  The set was a cloudy day with raining hearts, and these cuties stole our hearts.  Lillian, Jett, Ansley, Lana, Emilia Mae, Josephine, Matthew, Otto, and Eva loved dressing up like cupid, sitting in the clouds, or riding in a heart shaped hot air balloon, or riding on the love express airplane.  I can’t wait to see these little ones again.  Here are a few from this sweetheart session.

A look at my studio

My home studio is in our room over the garage in our little home in North Charleston.  It was my husband’s man cave until I finally won the battle to take it over, it took me a year.  Clients can relax on the couch and watch tv, or entertain themselves on the studio ipad, or on your own device during your session.    The room is kept around 80 degrees during all newborn sessions.   Clients are encouraged to bring some drinks, and lunch or snacks.

It has taken me a while to “find my style”  and I’m not sure I have truly found it yet.  I love a natural style with a hint of props.  I love these little balls of cuteness dolled up in hats and accessories, but I truly love the newborn being the focus of my work rather than a prop, but I do love to play.  When working with a newborn I will typically get the shot without hats, and then I will add the hat, or headband.   I prefer creams, whites, tans, mauves, but I love to play with a pop of bold color too.  I love a variety of texture, vintage looks, and lace, I am obsessed with soft delicate knits from bonnets, headbands, and stretchy wraps.   I recently taught myself to knit and have started making my own bonnets,  big bump blankets, and several of my mini blankets to incorporate into my photography style.   My soft props are all handmade by myself or purchased at Etsy from a pool of talented artist here in locally all over the country , and overseas.    My favorite etsy artists for my knits and crocheted props that I use come  from countries like Belgium, England, Lithuania, Romania, South Africa, and Ireland.

Smash the Cake & Birthday Fun Charleston, South Carolina

I found the perfect location for these three precious little boys to smash their very first birthday cake.  A field with 100 year old oak trees shading us, and a wooded bike trail that lined the Cooper River.

I had three little one’s that all were born within a day or two of each other.  Coleman, Brody, and Tyler are all the big ONE.
